Too bad Nick Nurse couldn't achieve a few more wins without an MVP level player. That 6 seed looks like Gold right now.

Now Nick needs to prove he can help that MVP overachieve when it counts and not lose to Doc Rivers again in the first round

Don't forget we were without Maxey for a part too, Tobias too some games, and we played a tough stretch, ...

Our starting line-up mostly has 3 minimum contracts on it ... and the bench, well. Think Nurse is a good coach, he just doesn't do miracles.

Yeah, he did what he could with that many injuries.

With a regular coach we could have really really struggled. He did a good job.

Beating teams like Dallas, Clippers, Cavs, Knicks on the road without Biid is no joke. This could have been even worse.

Hmmm... Supposed lesser coaches have done better with injuries to help with standings.

Fortunately he now gets a chance to prove himself with an All NBA guard, returning MVP, and a deep roster.

Against the schedule the Sixers played, with the players they had available? Unlikely.

I would disagree. They've lost to Brooklyn 2x/Memphis/and a bunch of injured or struggling teams at the time of the game like the Knicks/Dallas/Phx/Lakers/Clippers/Heat/Kings. I recall Maxey, Harden and Joel missing an early stretch last year and Milton and Melton overachieving. 2021 Joel missed a month, plus all the COVID missed games and they finished top seed. Point being they're like 2 games out of 6th. Win 45% of your games, because that supposed tough month generally wasn't as tough as it looked on paper prior to the all star break. I'll try not to bring up his recent disappointments in Toronto.

But again he has plenty of time to prove himself to be this elite coach.

It's not about guys missing games here and there. Embiid and Melton have barely played. Maxey's missed 10 games during that time. It's a miracle they've won as many games as they have.

Morey improved the teams depth right after Joel went down, adding 3 key players. There's clear scheme and pace things that could've taken place that did not under Nurse, but perhaps he has a plan for when the team is healthy..... So like I said we'll see what he can do when he's got the full roster. When healthy, they maybe have the deepest championship roster with 2 real stars in the league. This team can go 11 or 12 deep when healthy, you have depth so you can still battle for seeding when injuries occur. Not free fall

Glad you're satisfied, and he's motivated you to start back watching the games. That's a plus!

It remains far more logical he's back next week. Nurse is likely trying to rush it though.

I think that if we were without Tobias for this entire stretch, we would have had more wins. He's had some horrible games, and I think hungry players like Ricky Council and other bench guys would have provided more output in those games. Maybe I'm biased, but I can't wait until we get rid of this loser.

F*ck it, I want the 8 seed & Celtics round 1. Embiid will not have the conditioning for a full playoff run so might as well try to ruin the Celtics season.

All I'm asking for is the big fella to not get hurt again and to not play Boston before the conference finals.

I wonder, how could the Sixers ruin Celtics season?
Celtics are better this season than last season, Mazzulla will have more experience this time around too. We are arguably worse, with a rusty Embiid and no Harden to at least be able to peak for a game or two. Maxey is a bit better (but efficiency tanked), Oubre is good but he is not going to win you games by himself.
We needed peak Harden type stuff to win two games, even then it wasn't enough and we lost. Without those Harden heroics for two games, what is the realistic path? is Maxey going to score 40pts+? Embiid will finally dominate against Horford? explain how.
