G53: Sixers @ Cavs 2/12 7pm ET
We're 10.5 pt dawgs against the hottest team in the league. Little chance to win this one.

Batum + Melton continue to be out. Don't expect them until after the all-star break.
Tobias + Bamba are GTD. Need both to even have a chance tonight.
Not sure if Lowry plays tonight.
Time's yours...

I plan on watching zero of this game. And until Embiid comes back I will not watch any of the games left against Boston, Milwaukee, Cleveland, New York, Indiana, and certainly not the Clipper Road game. I stand by my 41 win over and under for the season. Not saying they will be under but if its over it will be by a game or two. We are heading to 7th plus in the standings by the season end so I need to adjust my attention level to this team to a more appropriate level which is almost nil.

Maxey and Hield have to match Donovan and Garland’s scoring, while Oubre and Tobi have to match Jarett Allen and Mobley’s scoring.
The Cavs' bench has the upper hand with LeVert, Niang, Merill, and Okoro very likely outscoring Payne, Council, and Bamba. I don't see any chance that our bench can outperform theirs.
Ultimately, we need Maxey and Hield to outscore their backcourt or Tobi and Oubre to outscore their frontcourt. Our guys headed by Reed have to play very good defense, such as limiting easy baskets for their frontcourt, to help us win the point differential in these matchups.

We’re just going to get destroyed by their size in all likelihood. Gonna need a scrappy effort from the entire team.
Cleveland is around 20th in both pace & TO% so we’re gonna need to generate turnovers and push the pace to win. I expect to see a really aggressive defensive game plan tonight.

I keep pondering how to win this game, and I believe the easiest way is for their bigs, Mobley and Allen, not to overwhelm us.

Tobi apparently out. The one thing you could count on was that Tobi would play every game, and yet he's missing games left and right when we desperately need him.
If we lose by less than 20 tonight it's a moral victory.

Ok, so no Barkley tonight, but I think Hersey is going to play which is good. Wish we had Chuck because the Cavs are going to kill us on the inside with Brad Daugherty and Larry Nance. They've also got John "Hot Rod" Williams coming off the bench so it's basically a three headed monster big we're facing tonight. Crazy how well Mark Price has been shooting the ball lately. That's one bad white boy. Matter of fact the Cavs have three white boys that can really shoot the basketball. Craig Ehlo is an underrated guard even though he's known for getting smoked by MJ that one time. Danny Ferry hasn't lived up to his lotto selection, but he's still a dangerous big man and a capable shooter.
As for us, we'll have to lean heavily on Hersey Hawkins tonight...Armon Gilliam steps in with his Gumby style haircut to man the 4 spot. Mike Gminksi is our starting center and he's gonna be BBQ chicken tonight. How old is Ricky Green? Forgot about Johnny Dawkins getting hurt at the start of the season. We picked Green up out of the bargain bin, but he's held down the point guard spot well for us. Coach Lynam gonna trap the Cavs tonight? It's our only hope on defense. If we can get a game out of Ron Anderson we'lre gonna be in this thing. Manute Bol shot a three the other night! WTF MAN! More of those please! It'll take a physical effort from Rick Mahorn tonight off the bench. Not sure why Lynam is starting Mike G when Mahorn has been the guy, but whatever. Are the young guys Mario Elie or Jayson Williams going to play? I hope so, both have potential in this league. Elie looks like a big time shot maker in the future and JayWill is a hell of a rebounder! Why do we always give our young talent away?

I hope you're not comparing Tobias Harris to Charles Barkley. Otherwise appreciate the wayback machine lol.
Buddy Hield is the modern-day Hersey Hawkins.

I’d rather have Hield take a halfcourt shot than Paul Reed take that left corner 3

Maxey has to slow down. Three TOs then bad shooting foul on Mitchell

Big gap between Mitchell-Allen vs Maxey-Reed.

Hopefully Cavs does not have another gear on defense because we’re scoring in the paint easily on our halfcourt offense

Good adjustment by Nurse to put Payne in and let him play SG.

Great game so far.
Just have to cut down those TOs and limit transition baskets. Cavs run a lot of 1-5 PnR, a big like Bamba is the way to defend that hopefully his processor doesnt overheat with all the computing he needs on defense.

Payne man.. love him. Offense is so much better, his passing is on time and perfect. Maxey is so much better with him.
