I wouldn’t worry about Buddy’s age. Eric Gordon is out here at 35 still being a very productive NBA player & he had a massive history of knee issues earlier in his career. Buddy will be fine & he’ll be shooting 40% from 3 until he retires.

I think Buddy is a perfect fit & will get a decent contract from us. Tobias on the other hand should be let go. He’s a good teammate & locker room guy but he’s just not a good fit next to Embiid. He’s a solid generalist but we’d be better served finding an elite specialist that can provide some skill that this team lacks (rebounding, wing defense, clutches, etc).

$25 million or under for their guy. Wiggins, Collins, Kuzma aren't 32 years old now, nevermind when they signed. They were entering their prime, not exiting. One thing, I do feel sure about is that Daryl won't re-sign anyone to an unreasonable deal that can't be traded or is too long if it is an overpay.

Considering Buddy was because at his last stop, and may come off the bench when this team is healthy.... 31 going on 32. Under $25 million. Same for Tobias who can't even get traded as an expirer. The talent,I thought would play himself out of Philly price range has been injured half the season in Melton and I think they should bring back all the real rotation players.

When we signed Harris to the max, we praised his age, look how that turned out. In the end, one needs to do certain projections in terms of age + playing style. Buddy in his Redick-like style of play can still be effective 2 years from now, maybe not 3 or 4 years from now. But Embiid's window is what, 2 years more or so at best I believe. So yeah max maybe not but a bit lower than that I would be ok if the alternatives are to sign other mediocre players to that price.

A lot of people on this forum were horrified Jimmy Butler was turning 30 in the summer of 2019. Never forget.

There's about 5+ factors that go into the Jimmy decision aside from age. Like him wanting to go to Atlanta, Ben Simmons, team fit, issues with the coach and Jimmy. Essentially planning to turn one big contract into multiple role players, which is usually not ideal.

If you can keep Tobias on a team friendly deal aka under market years and/dollars you do it and he'll finally be tradable.

Years ago after Sixers set the precedent, Khris Middleton signed almost the same contract amount/size as Tobias. This year Bucks extended Khris until 2026 making around $34 million per. It is my bet, roles now reversed, Tobias will seek this same extension.

Then he can go

Middleton won them a title to get that favorable deal and he's proving that was a bad decision. Him not being that player is what's killing the Bucks

Middleton delivered 20/5/5 in better and more shooting and is a 3x All Star.
Tobias should get (way) less than 30mil.

For sure. My post had nothing to do with anything that transpired in July 2019 regarding the front office. Just pointing out after they were eliminated by Toronto this forum was littered with "he's almost 30!" posts before June even hit.

Just funny to look back on since many thought Tobias' age at the time was something to take comfort in when in reality he had already peaked as a pro before landing in Philly. Whoops.

Middelton was a way better and functional player to a championship than Tobias. Solid defense, playmaking, shooting, clutch. Not a star but there wasn't many SG better than him in the NBA at that moment. He was worth that money much more than Tobias.

Injuries have derailed him and he's not close to that level now. But that's another story. If anything it shows that players can really decline after they 30's. Makes no sense to sign Tobias for a similar deal again.

Comparing Tobias to Middleton is nothing short of comical, regardless of what any silly 'advanced stats' say. One was a legit #2-3 on a title contender who proved he could be a closer in the biggest spots while the other is an invisible stat compiler in 1st halves and garbage time and one of the all time tank commanders.

Even the notion of giving this guy $20-25 million (or any price) after what we've seen the last five years has to be one of the most insane ideas I've seen on here. At what point is enough enough?
