Brett Brown was absolutely horrendous. That we can agree on.

Brett should never have been more than the Process Caretaker. Once things got serious, he should have been thanked and moved to a different spot in the organization.

Sadly, we didn't have serious management between Hinkie and Morey. Silver and Colangelo saw to that.

Joel has really been in a groove this season. His all around game is on another level. To nitpick I wouldn't mind if he raised his eFG% from .52% to around 57/58. Cutting back on those Hail Mary 3s and last second shotclock fadeaways should do that NP.

LOL

Brett had us running the same offense we're running now with Joel, difference being that Maxey can shoot so Joel not necessary has to start at the top of the key and not having someone static at the dunker make cutting more efficient.

We had JJ under Brett and Seth under Rivers. The main difference is, Maxey can score from all over the court.

Nope, Brett didn't run ****, it was all to make Bum Simmons look as good as possible to the detriment of the team.
Brett was even worse than Doc, it's just that we forget how atrocious he was.

What is this I just read on my newsfeed at work about Jo on a podcast with Maxey pining for Ben Simmons??

And they were talking about how Ben doesn't need to shoot to be good??????

Please someone tell me this isn't real.

I would take Ben back in a heartbeat...

...if he came attached to Bridges.

Works pretty easily financially too. Harris/Morris/picks for Bridges/Simmons.

Maxey/Beverley/Springer
Bridges/Melton/Korkmaz
Batum/Oubre/House
Covington/Simmons/Martin
Embiid/Reed/Bamba

Would be a very "complete the process' kinda trade.

Real. But they did mention that Simmons had to at least become a 75% FT shooter so he wouldn't be afraid to attack.

I'd be fine with that trade. Bridges makes too much sense here, and if part of the price is paying useless Ben Simmons for one more year, so be it.

Ben attacking and shooting 75% from the line is still a guy teams help off of and hedge off daring him to shoot. It's amazing other NBA players are either willfully blind to this or are just overly protective of their own. He was a damn anchor on the offense after his first two years when he would sometimes actually shoot jumpers.

Gross. Jo, you don't need to wax nostalgic over Ben Simmons. Harden helped you get a MVP, something Ben could've never done. And now the team has assets to actually be able to acquire a third star (or a bunch of complimentary pieces?) to help you win a title going forward (probably not this year).

Another evidence of Embiid having low basketball IQ right there.

I scratch my head how Morris keeps being added as a filler in trades. He's been steady cold knock down shooter here.

“Good” compared to what? He made 3 All star teams and an all nba team without shooting 75%. Several all defense teams and finished 2nd in dpoy once. Don’t think it’s that controversial to say a guy like that is “good”.

Doesn’t mean there aren’t legit criticisms of his game. But I feel like we’re so used to having a good team people forget how much worse a lot of the teams are. Like before the Hawks series Embiid missed the last Wizards game and Simmons completely kicked their butts in it. And they made the playoffs over 14 of the 30 teams.

I know this is the Embiid thread, but I'm gonna post this since Embiid recently spoke about Ben. Despite the **** ending of it all, we had some awesome moments with him here. Things weren't perfect but the Ben years were some of my favorite since I started following the team in 2000.

I’ll never forget the amazing winning streak that Ben led the team on at the end of his delayed rookie season, when Embiid was out. Of course in the playoffs Brooks challenged his toughness while Stevens pulled back his defenders and challenged him to shoot. I still think we lost an opportunity after he was injured before what should have been his first season to make him at least learn to shoot fouls shots with his dominant hand, just as Embiid learned to shoot the outside shot when he was out mending.
