Springer would be the perfect defender on Haliburton at least for certain stretches. Yes, there'd be some growing pains but at the very least, he couldn't be any worse than the guys who were defending him last night, could he?

I hope Nurse is just experimenting with the rotation atm because if he insists on having House, Jr. and Morris ahead of Springer and KMJ, it doesn’t make him much different than Doc, does it?

In that small way, maybe a bit. But in every other way, this team is night and day since being free of the Glenn regime.

I would think that Morris is on his way out. Giving him some time on the court can determine whether he is simply salary filler or whether he adds even a little bit of value to our end of the trade. In that sense, there's no downside to giving him PT. Even if we don't go star-hunting, we are probably still hunting for another good role player. Morris is probably first on the list of players whose salaries go out in a trade like that.

Yeah, Jaden going +20 and Reed +15 while the rest of the bench struggled so bad definitely makes an impression. (Of course, it wasn’t the big guy’s best game either.)

I think Nurse has been very good but he's got to play Springer more, especially when we are down two wings.

He's going to be bad sometimes but his two biggest weaknesses, fouling and volume shooting, can only improve with game minutes, not practice.

Springer should see the floor, but he needs to react quicker when he gets the ball. Don't freeze up, make a move, attack, you're athletic, he can get to the rim.

He looks like he can be an above average to good 3pt shooter to me, specially in a non-scorer role. He needs to get more PT because he looks lost a lot of time to me. But he has shown to be an impactful player.

My guess is he knows he's 5th option at any given time while on the court unless it's end of game scenarios. He's shown in HS, college, and G League that he can take on a scoring load, but as soon as he's with Embiid, Tobias, and Maxey, it seems he's concerned that his drive and shot attempt aren't the best use of the possession. Definitely overthinking, but that might also be how the coaches want him playing: stand in the corner and take the three if you're open, otherwise crash the boards for ORebs.

I was happy to see this thread fading fast as Springer was looking like the defensive stud we need on the perimeter. Today would have been the perfect game to put him up against a young all star in the making, and see if he could slow him down some. Instead, it seems that Nurse is developing Morris for some reason too obtuse for my fragile noggin.

Agreed but he was out for today's game due to an illness.

He'll be gone in a trade by the deadline, unfortunately.

He's done here at this point, probably part of a trade package when it happens.

What a shame, and I put most of the blame on Rivers, just another young player gone to waste on his watch.

Yeah I was hoping that Nurse could find a way to keep him in the rotation even with Oubre back but it doesn't appear likely barring another injury to one of our guards.

If that's the case, I wish him well wherever he ends up. Just hope it's part of a package for a star or high end role player i.e. OG who can already provide most of Springer's skillsets.

Perhaps he was sent to the G-league to get a little more seasoning while the team showcases players they want to include in a trade package?
