I'm fine with wanting to be like Jimmy...but kids young, i hope he keeps working on his 3pt shot more than butler has over his career.

I think people are trying too hard to see something that’s not there. JMO.

The only thing that's ever been missing is a jumper. And that's still not there. So I get that. But damn, if that jumpshot comes, watch out.

There really should be at least a niche spot for him right now to lock down guards off the bench. Maxey lacks size plus expends enormous energy offensively, Harden and Milton are both better on bigger players defensively, leaving only Melton as a plus defensive guard, especially with smaller, quicker guards. That was Tisse’s role and Springer should get some run doing that.

Looking at the future of the East, he could be a really important defensive weapon against Garland/Mitchell. Fingers crossed he figures out that jumper.

Lol yea if ur comparing him to a young jimmy. Jimmy's 6'8 and always had a pull up jumper.

But he actually has a skillset unlike that zhaire smith kid. What is there to hallucinate about? If he can improve his 3pt shot what else is stopping him from playing a deanthony melton type role?

Another highlight video with him exclusively playing with the ball in his hands. He looks more like a Tobias dribble king tank commander than a useful off-ball rotation player for a Harden-Embiid team. Clearly a high level defender already but not enough.

He looks more like Avery Bradley than Jimmy Butler.

Springer's a lockdown defender, but his offensive game is limited to using his athleticism to bull his way to the rim. He's such a freak athlete that he can make that work in the G League a lot of the time but he's got very little feel for the game.

kid's still young with potential and seems like a good guy, I think he's just got a long way to go to get to the point he could crack an NBA rotation.

He's strong and athletic enough to be a cutter , off the ball he just has to be better catch and shoot . He should be able to guard 1-3 which is essentially what Matisse does. I think he can be a better shooter than Matisse and better finisher than deanthony.. He just need some seasoning and time on the floor.

I can't wait to see a a defensive stopper lineup of

Melton
Springer
Tucker
McDaniels
Embiid

In the near future.

If Jaden Springer is Jimmy Butler then Mac McClung is Steph Curry

Is this kid going to get any run. Milton's play has fell off and we could use his guard defense.

OKC's leaders in total +/- this season:
1) Isaiah Joe +246 (in 807 min)
2) SGA +144 (in 1918 min)

Nobody else is above +90. That's CRAZY. Isaiah Joe has had an incredible impact in OKC.

Always sayed Isaiah had all the tools to be a good role player. It's a shame he coudn't have a legit chance here.

Springer shot looks broken, without a realiable shot he can't play in the NBA right now.

Meanwhile the Spurs have converted Charles Bassey’s two-way to a 4 year $10.2 million contract. Came back and scored 16 points on 7-8 night for the parent club.

Just frosts me to see kids leave the clutches of Glenn and thrive elsewhere. And apologists will insist that Glenn gave them every chance to succeed here. Same thing will end up happening with Springer.

Yeah we let go our best shooter for nothing, great. Joe has been fantastic for OKC and they are developing quick.

I just don’t get the management, entering prime years, clearly put on pounds in the off season, was clearly a step above in summer league.

And now we have Springer whose development has stalled because his shooting mechanics clearly looks bunk from range.

I do cut him some slack as he’s more of a project pick than an actual solidified skill player.

Springer's shooting mechanics do look pretty bad, but he's shown some improvement recently. In eleven games this February, he's shooting almost 35% from 3pt range on 4.2 att/game and has also been hitting 10-12 foot pullups off penetration pretty regularly.

he's still limited offensively - he almost never kicks the ball out to shooters or finds an open man off his drives, it's always get in the paint and try to jump over people to score, plus he tends to dribble into bad situations and lose the ball way too much - but he's starting to look a little better with his shooting and picking his spots for when to attack.

Springer's also been the best player on the Blue Coats at getting to the foul line in the regular season, too.
