Also there are just ton of variables in playoff series... especially for role guys. Even the stars get unfairly defined. Donovan Mitchell kept getting his last few years thrown in his face before the last few games.. Brunson had an incredible stinker in Dallas one season, Embiid.. etc. Isaac's offense just isn't reliable enough still and when his defense is only applicable to one sort of player in the series (Cavs wings).. he can get neutralized pretty easily.

But the one takeaway I had this series over anything was just how important that homecourt is for us and playoff teams in general

I've loved Franz as a player, but I'm just wanting to address the elephant in the room.

I'm racking my brain at people discussing our **** 7th man or Paolo as a first option after what we just watched this season and in this series.

Franz without a 3pt shot drastically changes this team's ceiling. This wasn't a series, this was an entire season. I just feel that we need to be thinking more about what this means for us going forward.

He shot 35% and 36% first two years, great ft shooter, so most likely an aberration.

Yeesh, and i thought i was being overly negative. Franz can still be a number 2, maybe a really good 3. Its just gonna depend on his 3pt shot. 20 something percent is just unacceptable. Also i do agree he needs to develop an inbetween game. Some counter he can go to when they defend the drive or dare him to shoot 3. That turnaround fade away dirk shot is not it.

I disagrew that with paolo and franz at the core that we are first round fodder, i think we can at the very least be top 4 in a couple of years. Championship im not sure too early to tell.

we can only say that for so long... hopefully he turns it around next year but there is going to be a lot of pressure on him to become, at least, an average 3pt shooter. If we see another sub 33% 3pt shooting season next year, we're going to have to think about what the pairing with Paolo... we'll worry about that next summer though. Let's just hope he can actually work on his game this summer instead of wearing out his body further playing international ball.

Bet he had a good cry in the back before this interview. He is the last guy on this roster that I would be worried about. He will improve on his weaknesses and become a better player from this.

His national team heavily relies on him and that will be his summer again. I truly think it hurt him last year and that his best basketball was played last summer. Another deep Olympics run makes me concerned about his ability to improve his shooting.

Yeah it's my worry as well. Hoping he can find a way to use his time wisely to focus on his individual game.

Paolo sure did show up. The efficiency still needs to improve (55.4% TS% for the series) but a 21 year old leading his team through a 7 game series while averaging 27ppg/9rpg/4apg with solid defense and splits of 46/40/76 splits against a great defense is impressive as hell. It was a hell of a series for that kid.

Nothing you’re saying is incorrect, but you still give him a fair extension (and it’s gonna be a big one) and just trade him away later if the shooting piece doesn’t tick back up.

Of course we have to extend him, of course he'll get better, but looking for a better scorer/2nd option, should not be a blasphemy and probably will help Franz too, right now we force him to be something he is not...

Oh I'm also in agreement with Pepe. Isaac was a huge disappointment. It's almost like he gets cult status, similar to Fultz. We spend all this time managing his minutes and ramping him up slowly to finally unleash him and he lets out a big hollow fart.

My hottest take? Jonathan Isaac should be on the trade market. He's the ultimate sell high candidate.

Unfortunately I agree too. You cant pay a bench guy 20+ million who backs up your possible number 1 and 2 options. He is a great defensive player and would be perfect if we had a star guard but we have two star forwards assuming someone gives us fair value.
