The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on guard/forward David Noel, General Manager Larry Harris announced today.

Noel (6-6, 230) was assigned to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League on January 20. He appeared in 17 games (14 starts) for the 66ers this season and averaged 20.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Tulsa is led by Head Coach Joey Meyer and has served as the Bucks D-League affiliate since the 2005-06 season.

Currently in his second NBA season, Noel did not appear in a game for the Bucks this season. He missed 27 games with a right wrist injury and was inactive (36 games) or a coach

I'll believe it in a couple of months when the JS breaks the story.

http://blogs.jsonline.com/bucks/archive/2008/03/14/bogut-sits-out-practice-may-miss-celtics-game.aspx

On a day when Mo Williams and Desmond Mason returned to practice, the Bucks suffered another injury blow as center Andrew Bogut sat out with a deep left thigh bruise.

Bogut took a knee to his thigh in the fourth quarter of the Bucks' 114-110 loss to Utah on Wednesday night at the Bradley Center. Although he was able to finish the game, he woke up with soreness on Thursday and said he still could barely bend his leg today.

"The way it's looking, it's pretty bleak for tomorrow night," Bogut said after practice. "I'm not going to be too stupid with it, because I could hurt myself more. If I can play tomorrow, I'll definitely try to give it a shot. But if it's feeling like it does today, there's no chance."

Bogut has started all 65 games this season and is not known to easily come out of the lineup. In February he suffered a hip injury but played through it and did not miss a game. The 7-foot Australian played in all 82 games as a rookie and started 66 consecutive games last season before missing the rest of the season with a left mid-foot sprain.

Bogut and Charlie Bell are the only Bucks to have appeared in all 65 games this season.

"It's important to me to play every game I can, but at the same time you've got to be smart," Bogut said. "We've still got 20 games left in the season. I have a break after that, and then obviously going into another phase with the Olympics (with Australia), and then coming back for training camp."

Bogut said he would hate to miss a matchup with Kevin Garnett and the Celtics, the team with the top record in the National Basketball Association.

"It's going to be a great game," Bogut said. "It would be interesting to play on one leg, especially against Garnett. That's something I don't want to do."

Bogut said he hoped he would be able to return against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night, if he can't play on Saturday.

"Hopefully it will respond in the next 24 hours and he'll be able to join us tomorrow night," Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "It doesn't look great at this point."

Williams returned to the practice floor after missing the last five games with an abdominal strain. He was able to make it through the full practice, and Mason also practiced after missing one game with a hyperextended right knee.

"It's been a frustrating year," Williams said. "I'm just trying to keep having fun, as much as I can, but it's very difficult."

Williams has not played since a March 2 game at Indiana, and he said he would see how he feels on Saturday.

"The rest calmed it down; we took it slow coming back," Williams said. "I'm still a little winded. It (the pain) is very minor right now.

"Today I was sluggish; my timing was off and my shot was off. I might go through two or three games struggling a little bit, hopefully not. You have to get on the court in a game situation to get back in a rhythm. You can't do it in practice; game shots are game shots."

The Bucks also announced the release of guard-forward David Noel, who was playing with the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Development League. Noel had been with Tulsa since Jan. 20 and was averaging 20.8 points and 6.0 rebounds.

Noel, a second-year player from North Carolina, did not play in a game with the Bucks this season. He missed 27 games with a right wrist injury and was inactive (36 games) or did not play by coach's decision (two games) in the other 38. As a rookie, Noel appeared in 68 games with the Bucks and averaged 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds.

There you go.

I like how we wait for him to become a dead-eye shooter before cutting him.

I'm better than Noel.

On a side note, looks like we're tanking again. Oh darn.

Noel will be remembered as an insane athlete who never did anything remotely athletic on the court.

Well, now the playoffs are out of reach.

Exactly, he's not a NBA player. No matter how good some people on here think he is.

I'm not sure what exactly the team gains from waiving him now...maybe hoping another team picks him up and pays the small amount he's owed this year? He's been playing really well in Tulsa FWIW.

He threatened to sign a contract with the Himalayan league, so Kohl extended him for 10 years.

Those sherpas would run him off the court.
