Trae Young to the Spurs

Post#1 » by NYG » Tue May 14, 2024 1:18 am

Clint Capela and Keldon Johnson to the Bulls
Trae Young and AJ Griffin to the Spurs
Zach LaVine, 4th Overall, '25 Hawks 1st and '26 Swap Rights Returned via SAS to the Hawks

-Bulls get off of Zach LaVine's contract and can retool a bit with some follow-up moves.
-Spurs add a co-star with Wemby and a solid young forward they can develop.
-Hawks add Murray's friend as back-court mate, get another top 5 pick in this draft and 2/3 of their own picks back.

Hmm it's not bad for the Hawks i wouldn't hate it. I have seen much worse offers out there that i don't think makes us any better. This one i could atleast see the reasoning behind it and it gives us much more control of our future.

Plz no. Like obviously everyone can make whatever threads they want. I'm not trying to stop you. But this is somehow an even more expensive version of the same trade we've seen talked about for months now. Young is a bad fit for the Spurs. The Spurs are not in position to trade multiple premium picks. If Trae is still out there in 2025, maybe you think about it then. Now, it's bad value and bad direction.

Awful for Atlanta, Zach Lavine is empty calories

This isn’t about Zach Lavine. This gets the Hawks two top five picks in this draft and most of their draft back moving forward. Lavine, like him or not, pairs well with Murray and the rest of the roster. I get not doing the trade but it’s far from terrible.

Much rather keep the picks for the Spurs, take one of Dillingham/Sheppard/Topic or even Castle at 4/8.

I like the LaVine contract back to Atlanta part..

It’s probably doesn’t work out, but it lasts through the pick debt and might raise the floor enough to not care about the pick debt while Jalen/Sarr/4th are developing hopefully..

But then you have Atlanta getting their picks back? So it doesn’t really go together IMO

And I’m not sure if it makes sense for Chicago? Maybe you do it just because Keldon makes half as much as Zach. But it’s really just giving up completely..
