I don't really believe the bolded part is true under Gute. Under TT sure but Gute massively changed how the Packers FO approach Free Agency. They signed guys like Jimmy Graham, Mo Wilkerson, The Smith Bros, Adrian Amos, Billy Turner, Rick Wagner, etc. Gute regularly added in free agency until he ran out of cap space to spend. And oddly enough some of that aggressiveness is what led to the Packers moving on from older veterans on their roster like Jordy & Cobb.

Also, giving players too much control is almost always a bad idea, as we found out when Rodgers brought all his buddies home and as we are finding out now with the Bucks. Players are almost always bad GMs.

I didn't say it was true under Gute, but Rodgers isn't looking at Gute and thinking, okay, bygones be bygones when he takes the reigns. It's on the org as a hole. Any of those underlying frustrations don't just go away, other stuff just mounts. I don't think Gute handled that transition on a personal level with Rodgers at all and I think he had the opportunity to.

Let me be clear on the last part. Input and involvement IS NOT control. There's a difference.

Interesting career move. #4 on the Packer QB pecking order at the outset, #6 or #7 on the Packer WR list. Trying for a Taysom Hill role, whether in GB or elsewhere?

Definitely an interesting career move. I don't think McGough is anywhere near as athletic to pull off a Taysom Hill though, but good luck to him!

I wasn't about to spend much time looking stuff up, but I guess he had a 4.62 40 on his pro day. Pretty meh for a WR, obviously, but maybe he can make up for some of it by playing WR with the savvy perspective of a former QB.

Also, he was the USFL MVP after replacing an injured starter in the first game, which has nothing to do with his move to WR but is still a fun fact. Doubt he makes an active roster though.

I would love an out of nowhere Simmons or Gilmore signing. At this point they've gotta be near no brainer levels of cheap unless they are waiting for TC injuries.

He does it all the time. Had CJ Stroud telling him what plays he likes the most, then broke down the play saying how he would cover it to see how CJ would audible. The whole time CJ is telling him everything.

That is so wild! I only watched that one episode. I couldn't believe how that conversation was a thing... Maybe the setting promotes a false sense of comfort?, but telling terminology, diagraming plays, trying to get dirt on how the packers defended the Cowboys in the playoffs??? Love at one point realized the questioning was kind of odd and asked dude are you thinking about being a coach?.. He was just like Nah, We might see eachother in the playoffs. Love's demeanor changed after that, finally realizing he was scammed.

Anyone know the real cap space after all rookies sign? Wonder if they will bring anyone else in. Feels like this year we are tight with dead cap and better next year.
