Great move. Got rid of an under-avchieving malcontent for a ton of draft picks. All the Lions need is somebody who knows how to draft good, solid talent. The best teams build through the draft. Hopefully, this is just the start of the house cleaning.

To be fair, it's hard not to be underachieving when you're receiving your passes from a Kitna or Orlovsky under pressure. I appreciate what he did for the team, but it was becoming increasingly clear that we were going to lose him for nothing. Brilliant first move of the post-Millen era.

Roy underacheived because he stopped caring. He made it clear that he didn't want to be in Detroit... BYE!!!

These draft picks will allow whoever takes over as GM the opportunity to build a solid foundation.

I like this trade. Would've been nice to trade some other pieces and waive Kitna, but oh well.

Whats even the point of putting Kitna on the IR? He has like 1/2% chance of even being here next season.

I just don't get that part. Even if hes injured, why even keep him?

Not only did Dallas give up a 1st and 3rd but reworked his contract & included $20 mil guaranteed. Great move for us - Roy didn't wanna be here anyway. Hopefully this is just the start though - time to clean house.

As a outside, i just want to say congrats! What a move, you get a 1st and 3rd for a WR, who was going to be a Free agent. This will allow you guys to build throw the draft and begin the rebuilding proccess with a good G.M

It sucks because I know we're not going to get a talent like Williams with that pick, but I guess given the circumstances this is a move that makes a lot of sense.

Let's see how the rest of our WR's step up with more looks now.

I think Johnson could really come up big here the rest of the year.

As good as Roy Williams was, I don't think he would've stayed after his contract was up so it was a great move getting some picks for him. Guys like Furrey and Macdonald are going to have to step up big though to take some attention away from Calvin.

I know he's an amazing talent, but it's hard for any receiver to come up big when your QB is throwing from behind his endzone.

^ that and your QB hardly ever looks for you. Watching the Lions/Texans game, Orlovsky hardly ever even looked for Johnson. Furrey caught a couple passes, McDonald dropped everything.... but everytime Johnson got a look, something happened....either a nice run or a penalty on the Texans trying to stop him.

I know people are worried about too much attention being on Calvin now with Roy gone.... but shouldn't that attention start with your QB?

If you have one.

I'm guessing teams are daring Dan to beat them. Like a bad shooting PG in basketball being left wide open.

I agree Liqourish and have been quite amazed at how few looks Calvin has gotten. He is the best player on our team. He is phenomenally talented. He should be getting the ball thrown at him at least over 10 times a game. He is going to make the play if you let him. So let him!
