Cubs down 3-0 going into the 5th.

Zambrano as expected IMO, a little erratic and too much energy. Dunn has 2 homers already. :-?

His first few outings are usually like this, hopefully the offense make some noise, 3 runs in Great American Ballpark is by no means a safe lead.

Freel with 2 errors on a Lee line drive that scores Murton and plops Lee on 3rd.

IMO Z shouldn't start opening days. Too bad him not start will never happen.

Yeah I tend to agree, the adrenaline that would normally help him in big-game situations gets the best of him. If he was starting the 2nd or 3rd game, the initial draw/allure of "Opening Day" has subsided.

Adrenaline + control = very good.

Adrenaline + finding your control = no good.

Did anyone see what Lou said about Cotts?

Q: What did you see from Cotts when he pitches?
A: I see he gives up runs when he pitches.

We blew our chance in the 8th.

Our plate discipline has looked real bad today. Hopefully that changes on Wednesday.

Embarassing performance. Just goes to show you that spring training really doesn't matter as we hit .313 in ST and then we only score 1 run on Opening Day.

Sigh.

Just a disappointing day all around, Z had no command and our hitters had no discipline at the plate alot of hacks and bad takes on favorable pitch counts.

Oh well its only one game, lets see what Lilly can do on Weds.

At least I have Dunn on my fantasy team.
I also have Zambrano and Harang.

Return to Chicago Cubs
