we'd rather give 0 defense Poole 30m a pop instead BECAUSE HES THE CURRY REPLACEMENT

I rather give money to the guy who's has an amazing 3 year ascension than the guy that took 8 years to have one decent season as an 8th man.

id rather give Gp2 9m than JP 30m if that's your argument

giving players like JP max money is exactly how you DONT sustain as a dynasty.

I'm still a Poole fan, and also think GP2 is worth the money he got... but can't help but always think about:

how did Lou Will never make more than 8m a year? LOL

Don't get me wrong, he got what his role probably SHOULD have always been paid, but he's the only dude that never got overpaid.

I would agree the sum of money he received is too much if there wasn't a new CBA coming after next year. The salary cap is going to explode and him and Wiggs are going to be considered bargains. People are estimating max salaries will be north of 70m per year. And keep in mind, JP is still on his rookie contract this year, so he's basically only going to be overpaid (by our terms) next year then the new CBA and salary cap will be here.

He doesn't seem to have the lift he used to have, which is understandable.

But apparently he didn't go hard in the offseason, fearing re-injury.

It sucks when he was clipped by Danny Green, he was playing better than he ever had and that kind of play is what he's probably fearing, someone taking reckless attempt at his shot from behind, carelessly injuring him.

The one 3 he made down the stretch vs. Cavs was good, left wing, catch and shoot right away. Garland I think closed on him but he got good elevation so even though he would sense Garland coming near his legs, he released it cleanly and confidently.

That's why they have him in closing lineups, he's still a threat to make the big shots.

Unless he's completely washed and never shoots above 37% from 3 again, he spaces the court, probably draws the most defensive attention after Curry from 3 point range. It's showing he's shooting 32.6%, not sure if that includes the Cavs game.

So if he's going to revert to his career average of 41.5, he's going to have some explosions the rest of the season. Or even last season's 38.5%, it means he's going to shoot well over 40% for rest of the season (some 70 games).

This Klay slander is getting so tiresome.

I wonder if a shooting coach is working with Klay? His shot does look short a lot of the time recently and despite the raves his shooting form has had throughout his career his leg positioning does draw attention for possibly not generating enough power especially after his injuries.

The upper body part of his shot is still the same. His issue is his lower body on his shot. A YouTuber did a video explaining how he used to be tall up and down with lift on every shot. Now his legs are too wide and he has less lift with the legs. It's a mechanical issue with the lower body that's causing this. If it ever got solved we would run away with the West.

He's basically worse statistically than westbrook across the board.he cant get worse. Kerr just need to control his minutes until he gets his legs if that indeed is the problem.

I think it's a problem where he was practicing bad repetitions for two years due to the leg injuries. I mean think about you are Klay Thompson the guy with the best shooting form in professional basketball but you undergo two years of injuries. Klay had to practice shooting without putting stress on his legs, that means taking a wide stance for balance and avoiding lifting the legs up and down on the shot.

So now you have Klay shooting a wide stance flatter footed jumper, without the lift it's a flatter shot. A flatter shot has a lesser chance of going in, and that's where he's at.

Practicing tons of bad repetition is a big deal. Look at Fultz and Lonzo.

Klay has played long enough to know that refs swallow their whistles at the end of games.

Watching the Cleveland game last night I felt as if his shot mechanics seemed off. I'm far from an expert on that kind of thing of course but he seemed a bit more upright or something.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

He shoots better when he's not overthinking it. You see his form revert back to his old form when he just fires away and doesn't think twice.

Pretty much the worst stat you could ask for. A low percentage shooter doing high volume. There's no chance we make the playoffs with Klay shooting like that.

And 11th highest paid player in the league.

But, in all seriousness. His only value left is shooting, we just need to hope his can start hitting them again. Dubs aren't going to trade him and kerr isn't going to bring him off the bench.
