It's time! Ping-pong balls of doom. Sunday May 12th 3pm

Post#1 » by zeebneeb » Fri May 10, 2024 7:29 pm

Well, its that time of year again fellow Piston fans. The only thing we, as a group of suffering fanatics have to look forward to.

Here, we can commiserate over another failed year, and can speak of hope.

No word yet on who(m?) Is representing the Pistons this year.

Good luck on your selection!

I think we end up #3.... We get the momentary excitement of lasting past the commercial break but then the eventual letdown of not landing a top 2 pick.

I'm curious about who you would be targeting at 2 that would put it at much higher value than 3, assuming Sarr goes #1.

I would be all for moving down later in the lotto if we could pick up an extra pick in next year's draft. This draft just seems so hard to predict.

I honestly expect #1 or #2 this year, due to the historically weak draft class - feels like a time Adam Silver would approve the Pistons getting that (being semi-facetious.) But what does it matter?

odds where we end up:

1st - 14%
2nd - 13.4%
3rd - 12.7%
4th - 12%
5th - 47.9%

given that there's no consensus top pick (closest would be sarr?) i'm honestly not really phased by where we end up picking. i'm usually an obsessive fan but i think this past season (on top of the last few seasons) have broken my enthusiasm, i can only imagine how the players feel.

Couldn't care less really. 1st pick gets 1st pick money while being end of lotto in any other draft class.

I don't know that it's thaaat dramatic. Sarr is in the mix in the Ausar / Walker / etc range last year.

Weird how we can have such a historically bad season and there's still a close to 50% chance that we end up with the 5th pick. And there's very realistic scenarios where teams who won 30+ games could move up above us.

Anyway I'd be happy with picks 1-3. This draft seems like such a crapshoot though that even if we end up at 5 it's very possible the best player in the draft could still be taken there.

For those who believe in karma…… shouldn’t the Pistons have someone else there besides last year’s NUMBER FIVE PICK? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Falling last year felt catastrophic.

This years it’s meh.

The last 2 years have been brutal. We REALLY needed to land Chet/Paolo or Wemby. Imagine the difference. Weaver probably wouldn't be getting a new boss lol. Totally different outlook.

Yeah. If memory serves we had Chet number one on our list.

Fair to point out that the Thunder and Magic both made far better choices outside of that stroke of luck.
