There's a lot of decent pieces on the team who'd fetch a good return, especially with a lot of teams trying to contend right now. Our farm system sucks. A fire sale this season could go a long way towards jumpstarting the rebuild.

remember Josh Donaldson? hahahahaha

Shapiro / Atkins perfected that "let MVP level asset expire worthless" before Masai did to some fringe all-stars

Seriously, just tear it down already! The team has obvious deficiencies. It's incredible how Ross could perceive the team as improved when little was done to make it better.

The front office can’t afford a rebuild on two fronts. Shapiro has an aggressive business plan in place to quickly recoup the money invested in Rogers Centre renovations driven by lots of full houses. A rebuild would result in a ton of empty seats, which is not in the budget.

As well, it’s an admission that the last nine seasons under Shapiro and Atkins has been a monumental failure.

Bunt itself was well executed.
Baserunning was terrible.

The bunt wasn't well executed because a bunt is supposed to be a slow/short grounder, whereas that one was like a short pop-up/line drive which is why Jansen hesitated because he thought it might be caught... The slide on the other hand was, well...

This is sad and correct. We need this team healthy and losing a lot of games & out of play offs by end of August to stop Shapiro and Atkins selling a sub-mediocre team as a perennial playoff contender.

Why do we keep playing Swanson in tight games? He is probably the worst RP we have at the moment right now

Yeah, we need to be bad, not "just good enough" to contend for a wildcard. The more mediocre we are, the more likely we'll be stuck with this kind of team for the foreseeable future.

The injuries to Chad Green and Garcia came at the worst time. The depth options of this team are limited right now, so this team has no choice but to keep on hoping that the Swanson of 2023 emerges again.
