If he can not figure it out before year end hitting wise, this team needs to look for another Left Fielder/CF to replace him next year. Might as well just kept Gurriel, Moreno, and signed back Bradley Zimmer with the garbage offensive production Varsho has provided this year. Having solid defense is great to have, but if you can barely hit above the Mendoza line, I would be looking for another Starting Outfielder next year who is a much better hitter than Varsho but decent enough defensively. Outside of Bichette, Guerrero and Springer (with his contract), and if they cannot work something out with Merrifield (18 million option), every other batter in this lineup can be replaced. Kiermaier, Chapman, and Belt are free agents so they do not have to be signed back anyways. Biggio is under Arbitration, and I would let him walk.

Biggio, Espinal, Varsho needs to be 7-9 every day. Don’t matter which spot, just the bottom 3.

Also, Jansen needs to play more than Kirk at this point. Kirk is now the backup catcher for Jansen. We really should have traded our fatties who can’t keep in shape, imagine the kind of player we could get for Manoah/Kirk last year

Yes. Our starters (minus Manoah) have been great this year.

Varsho was getting hot,and consistent batting 7th.I think he is a guy that needs to bat in the same slot most of the time.

Varsho hit 7th today. He also has hit 7th in several other games over the past few weeks where he has been awful at the plate. Time in and time out he cannot lay off the high fastballs to save himself. Absolutely terrible at the plate this year, except for a few good games in a row once a while. If he cannot turn it around the rest of the year at the plate, there would be no way you automatically guarantee him a CF or LF spot in 2024. I would be inclined to target a much better hitter in those spots in the off-season, whose defense might be decent enough to replace Varsho as an everyday player. I would be willing to cut my losses with him, if he continues to hit the rest of the way like he has the last 3 months.

i still wanna believe because if he gets consistent,we will be a nasty team to play against with him 7th...12 hr 30 rbi...not great,but only 1 hr behind Vlad,and we are better recordwise than last year.Weird season of baseball for us,and other teams,like Stl.

The only consistent with Varsho's career is that he's been a consistently bad hitter.
