No point giving up on Vlad at this point in the season (24 games in). Hope that he might be able to get to 2022 levels over the year. We don't have much of a choice.

That being said he absolutely needs to be sat/rested tonight. Maybe it helps Vlad / maybe it doesn't. But I think the message is necessary for the team.

I don't think the front office has done a great job in insulating Bichette and Vladdy. These are not elite hitters and by now this should be obvious. I wonder if the the front office is letting this happen to avoid paying at least one of them instead of ensuring their success.

I don’t think putting better hitters behind Vlad is going to stop him from hitting ground balls.

Are you sure? When we had better hitters he looked better yes? He could afford to be more patient when he wasn't "the man". I understand the mathematically baseball is an individual sport and that "protection" has been academically proven to be looked down upon by Bill James and others. I don't believe that. The better the hitters in and around them the better pitches they have to be thrown.

Also, why not just get better hitters because that helps the offense independent of Vlad (if that argument about not helping him is to be believed).
