Im not sure i want to pay Vlad 500 mil over 10 years for that kind of production. I could maybe forgive the low power numbers if he was hitting in the 320-330 range, but hes well below 300 as well. On pace for 25-28 HRs. Thats really not 500mil kind of production.
The thing is he hit 48 homers 2 seasons ago... wtf happened to him.... You'd think he'd keep getting better with more experience but he had the one mvp year surrounded by okay years. It's weird and I don't understand why he can't consistently put it all together. The thing is the potential is still always there, but you wonder what is preventing him from consistently being elite.
He stopped playing in minor league parks for half the season after 2021 for one thing.

Decent argument he's been the best pitcher in baseball since we signed him.

The parks aren't holding him back though. It's not like he's hitting fly balls that are just being held in play by bigger parks. When he connects with the ball he crushes them and they'd be out in any park. He's just not connecting enough and when he does he's not getting it in the air.

Do Manoah a favor, and make him the number 3 starter with Bassit becoming number 2.
Gausman should have been number 1 from the start.

i think the Jays are doing fine and can still get their act together in the 2nd half. but now its going to be finding that 5th starter. our bullpen should normalize to being above average. and Vladdy, my god, start playing like that an MVP again offensively. at least this isn't something like basketball where someone sucking on offense affects their defense etc

doesn't matter what order they are in. Manoah can't pitch.

We're finally playing good baseball. It would be nice to be able to get a winning streak going. But the only way that can happen is if Manoah gets sent down.

Well then I have some good news for you. He was sent down yesterday morning before the game.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

He can still pitch. He just needs to get in shape, and figure the pitch clock thing, and dump that stupid attitude of dumping on players after k-ing them or whatever.Good they sent him down.We will start streaking now.

Also likely opposing pitchers have a much better book on him.

Hopefully Manoah can figure things out in the Minors. Last off-season, Jon Heyman of the New York Post wrote that the Jays front office had proposed a contract extension to Manoah, but that Manoah's camp had rejected that figure, and were not close to making a deal in their talks.
I am not sure what the contract number was, but really glad now that no deal was reached given how bad Manoah has looked. Manoah does need to get in better shape and adjust to the pitch clock. Give him all the time he needs to figure it out physically and mentally.

ya he can still throw a ball over the plate, within reason. but the purpose is to have the batter not hit them hard or even, at all! /s
i know. weird concept. lol
but i think a stint in the florida complex will definitely help.

This is probably getting to be repetitive post in here, but seriously, when are the Jays going to take a hard look at getting rid of Pete Walker? It feels like our pitchers going from hero one season to zero the next is an all too common occurrence during his too-long tenure here.
