Mark Cuban sells Mavs
We’ll kind of, he sold a minority share of the team for $2B. Cuban will still be the majority owner and retain operational control of the team.

Bad news, Adelsons are Vegas gambling lords, I hate this ownership minor change, Russ Perot Jr must be livid.

It’s a majority stake. Mark Cuban no longer owns the Mavs. I never thought I’d see the day…

One thing I've been suspecting for a long time, Cuban line of credit is dwindling, and he's been very hesitant to spend, the Adelsons don't have this problem.

From my understanding the widow Mrs. Adelson is the one buying a share of the team. Also I believe this move is a precursor to have the Mavs involved more with gambling in some way. The NFL did it with Fantasy Football and the whole NBA will be looking to do the same soon. Cuban trying to get ahead of the curve.

The gambling thing is a whole other can of worms, it's ridiculous how it's pushed on every podcast, when the main audience is teen-agers.
Sports went from family entertainment to alcohol and gambling advertisement vehicle...

Fat chance, no one is giving up on a market the size of DFW...

Given the political tendency of Dallas as a city and the fanbase on Tiwtter in particular, this will be fun...

Of basketball decisions, yes. Ultimately she’s the one with the finger on the button though and it’s her signing the paychecks. I always assumed Cuban was the main deterrent for why we could never get free agents, but having a foreign, right-wing nutjob as the owner won’t make things any easier

Yea now I’m hearing for $3.5B. The estimated value of the Mavs of $4B.

There is something going on in the backgrounds. Cuban is a fanatic when it comes to keeping things private and having control. Mavs were always his love child or whatever we can call it. I don't buy this BS that he did this so that this family could build a casino entertainment district in Dallas and a new arena for the Mavs..... Unless he thinks this would attract more free agents lol. But given the record of who these people are, this could get ugly really soon.

Re: Mark Cuban sells Mavs
For Cuban, Mavs was a personal hobby, a good investment, and a tool to publicize/promote himself.
There is a good chance this decision comes from Cuban being semi-bored with the team.
- He might be looking to have more sources to invest in other ventures. You dont want to be a poor shark...
- Perhaps he wants to grow his business in pharmaceutical. I dont know if that venture was a 'front' for PR or whether its going good or bad. If its going good, more investment may worth for him.
- Maybe he wants to be known as a successful businessman with ethical values. If he makes his company mainstream and lower the drug prices, he'd effectively do that. It would bring him more fame, better PR, better respect from his family and a new-generation businessman.
- I mean if he was successful in that type of venture, he can even run for politics. Seeing how Musk is doing many crazy stuff at once may increase Cuban's appetite who knows?
Selling can also be a good financial decision at this time
- He and his FOs are incapable of creating a contender. (This guy was super-lucky to get a team with two MVPs in Nash-Dirk)
- Teams valuation may not be increasing anymore.
I dont think Cuban is selling his stakes to improve the franchise. When things affect your bottom line, you dont think about attracting FAs. $3.5 billion valuation is not too high. Maybe Cuban got what $2 billion out of this deal? Its a significant amount of money.

Cuban selling Mavs. Would be as happy DC when Snyder did, but apparently he's sticking around for operations. Hopefully that's only to keep Luka happy
Funny seeing ppl whine on the general board hating the new ownership strictly because they give money to the GOP.

Dallas is a big market. Cuban has said that the a Mavs are NOT moving to Vegas but honestly it will come down to if the citizens of Dallas want to pay for a new resort style of stadium that they want to build. If the voters say no then the team will likely move to Vegas in my opinion. The NBA has been wanting to expand and considering Dallas is a big market I would expect an expansion team to be placed in Dallas if the Mavs were to ever move to Vegas.

The people of Dallas have to approve a new stadium first.
