Sweezo; I would be okay with Smoak if he has a 340ish+ OBP. But I still think we need another bat. Is there no OFer we can trade for?

Im already happy with this series. All I wanted was a split. Felix going tomorrow? Lets take 3 of 4.

Also bears mentioning:

Angels lost.
Astros lost.
Rangers lost.

We're one out away from pulling into 2nd place in the division and only two games back from Oakland.

**** it...I want the sweep. The double header is their fault anyway. They should be gracious hosts and concede.

Would LOVE it.

Oh, no question. But if Smoak's what I described I don't feel the need to, say, fork over a hastily written check to Kendrys Morales to man 1B for more than 3 years/$30 million.

We definitely need an OF bat but I don't see 1B as a black hole anymore.

I never even put that together until he said it. Amazing. I cannot believe we are in this position after that horrible skid against the Astros/Marlins while Oakland surged.

We definitely need an OF bat. Im not worried about 1B.

Why didnt we just overpay for Choo in the offseason?

Yep, I think you could make a legitimate argument that we'd be the division favorites with Choo in addition to what we already have. Saunders is hitting but he's going to cool off. Jones is interesting...I think he's going to be a hacker, but he did a good job hitting a couple different types of pitches. If we had Choo leading off we'd be all the more impressive.

Oh well. Too late to worry about it now Sweezo. I just know I wouldnt mind either a power guy behind Cano or any OBP guy in front of Cano. Our FO should make that happen.

What a difference two weeks makes. We've gone from next year again to maybe the 2nd wild card to DIVISION!! The bounce back from the losing streak might be the most positive thing so far this season. The last few years the team would have started mailing it in already. Who gets the credit for that? Lloyd? Cano? Everybody? It's also funny to see how Ramirez has completely dropped out of the rotation discussion. I know he's been bad so far, but what could a Ramirez/Franklin/... package get us? The outcome of this season might come down to who becomes available. The problem is with the 2nd wild card there are fewer sellers. Outfield is the obvious target, but don't sleep on DH. According to the current fangraphs numbers, Hart is running an 88 wRC+, behind Ackley (90) Saunders (93) and even Romero (92). I think the ship has probably sailed on Morales, but if his asking price ever comes down, he might still be an upgrade.

So of course Hart hits a HR in his first AB today.

There's a couple problems with Morales:

[1] He's really more of a DH than a 1B, and he certainly can't play OF. Hart can move around the field a bit.

[2] He's not played organized baseball since last year. How long would it take for him to get up to speed and be able to contribute?

[3] He turned down a 3 year/$30 million deal last year. A team that signs him doesn't have to a surrender a pick if he's signed after the draft. He's waited this long to, presumably, cash in. He might as well wait one more month and see if a market develops.

At this point, I've lost all interest in him. 3 years/$30 million is a fair offer for a straight DH with his numbers. There's no way I'd be willing to pay him more than that.

after this series we will have played 22 road games and only 11 home games that is some fishy scheduling
