Can one of the salary cap crunchers on this board let us know what the Bears have left to spend after the draft? Would be excited if we brought in a vet or two on the D Line.

It won't be known exactly until the draft is over because the Bears could make trades away from the current slots, but I read something like ~$10M is expected.

As for EDGE guys, the only 2 in the top 100 free agents still available are Calais Campbell and Emmanuel Ogbah. Assuming Campbell doesn't retire, either could be a one year stopgap/depth piece.

Too expensive to trade up in the 2nd round for me. I like those 2 2nds sitting on deck for next year.

Those picks next year are setting up a really bright future, but are any good OT and DE free agents available once the draft ends? After a great 1st round, still feels like we're not gonna be able to address our needs at the O and D lines for another year...

I’m quite sure poles can snag some Olin & Dline players who go undrafted I think they’ll wait it out after there next 2 pick in this draft I can guarantee you they will get some defensive players on this roster by opening day they thought all this out already

On defense. There’s also the fact that they’re young and hard working kids who are going to get better. I don’t think there’s any glaring holes anywhere other than DE. More depth would be nice.


On offense. I think we’re good to go also and not having a spaz like Fields back there is going to make everyone look a lot better, it might take them some time to gel it being a new offense and all. More depth would be nice.

We still have money left and various scenarios to improve it also before the season starts. With 8 picks next year we’re also sitting pretty. Coming off a Super Bowl victory Poles is going to have his choice of studs on both sides of the trenches in next years draft.

I'm not against getting an edge although they might look at DT instead.

I would complete the task of putting Caleb in the best position and beef up that interior OL. Also many many times Fields had some time in the pocket taken away because of bad snaps would take his eyes from downfield.

I was just thinking that if he drops far enough, I could definitely possible to trade this years and next years thirds to go get him. Idk if poles is even looking for another interior OL but JCJ could be our best, day one

*perhaps this trays from the "excels at a higher chance than a rookie at a skill position". Let just say its my personal opinion to be ok with a rookie C and I just want our next Olin is all. It was our biggest weakness on the OL IMO.

That’s dedication, tracking rookie centers around the league by watching over the years. I don’t have that level of fandom.

I couldn’t find a detailed chart, but a list of rookie pro bowlers over the years doesn’t bode well for centers.
