Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash are the only regular season MVPs since 83-84 to not make either the first or second All-Rookie team and Chauncey Billups is the only winner of the NBA Finals MVP in that category. In other words, the All-Rookie team is a trustworthy first measure of elite players in training.

The Bulls, Warriors and Raptors have had the highest number of first team All-Rookie members during the timeframe.  While the Bulls have won six titles, Golden State and Toronto have been decidedly middle of the pack at best.

Meanwhile, the Lakers, Pistons, Suns and Blazers have had tremendous, consistent success over that period and have had a relative dearth of representation in this category.

For the Lakers, they acquired both Shaquille O'Neal and Pau Gasol (along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar if you go way back) after they already had several NBA in the books. Kobe Bryant was a high school rookie who was second team All-Rookie.

The 2004 Pistons were largely a product of trades and free agency, with only Tayshaun Prince being a homegrown talent.
